A thought on positive thinking.

Try to pay attention to all the negative shit that runs through your head every day. If you take time out to actually stop and notice all of them, it’s gonna get a little scary, no doubt. You might be trying to improve yourself and get out of negative cycles by eating well, exercising, meditating, etc, etc. Or, maybe you aren’t.

And you know what? Do you.

But the subtle, yet powerful thoughts like “This sucks”, “I hate the fact that I have to do this shit man, it’s so boring”, “I can’t do that it’s too hard for me”, or “I hate my job”, will fucking bite you. Not even bite, they’re gonna nibble at your soul every time it’s acknowledged and accepted by you.

You are hindering yourself subconciously and you don’t even see it. But that’s okay. We’ve all been there. And it’s tough as HELL to break away from that.

Just remember one thing: YOUR REALITY IS WHAT YOU THINK IT IS.

Everyone sees the world differently. Everybody thinks their own thoughts and has their own beliefs, but isn’t it hard to say that something is an absolute truth in our world? For instance, how the fuck do I know that the color red means the same thing to the both of us? We don’t, we just believe it does.

So how do you know that you can’t accomplish something? How do you know for sure that you can’t be happy? You don’t. That hasn’t been established because it doesn’t exist at this very moment in time. What exists is the NOW. So if you haven’t obtained that goal or realized that idea yet, why waste time dwelling in the negative when you can be believing in the positive?

Does your job really suck? Maybe it does. But, what are you gonna do about it? If you don’t like it, work hard to figure out where things went wrong or try to analyze your passions and what excites you. Then, make steps towards change.

Instead of repeating the same demeaning thoughts to yourself, think about whether you’d use that same language to console a friend or somebody you love. Or maybe even think about it vice versa. Would you really want your long time best friend to be telling you shit like “You can’t do that, you’re not good enough”?

Nah, I don’t fucking think so.

Wake up y’all. Living life to the fullest is a choice, not something that just happens by chance to certain people.

If you take the time out everyday to focus on correcting your thoughts, you’re gonna start to see some beautiful changes in the way you process what’s around you and how you interact with yourself and others. It’s definitely not easy to be having to tell yourself constantly that “You’re powerful” or “I can do this”, but it’s worth all the effort.

You create your reality. If you begin to choose seeing your life and everything in it as a gift, then it WILL enliven you and inspire you.

Just believe it.

MINDSET EXERCISE:

Do this whole thing 3 times a day:

5 deep breaths in and out.

As you inhale, imagine particles of positivity entering through your lungs and spreading out throughout your whole being. Try to feel that energy flowing through you until you get goosebumps. As you exhale, imagine all the toxic energy of your pride, ego, and negative thoughts leaving and whooshing away from your soul. Feel the particles vanish. Pause after your exhale and picture and blank space in your mind (I personally focus on thinking as if there was just a gray space in my mind. Like it’s empty or something).

After your breathing, think of 5 things you’re grateful for.

It could range from something like the folds of skin on your knuckles to the fact that you can see the condensation on your window. It doesn’t matter what it is, as long as you acknowledge the gifts you have in your life.

Pray. (optional)

I pray because that’s just what I grew up on. If that’s not your thing, absolutely do not worry. What matters is your mindset growth, doesn’t matter what kind of approach you take.
