why you should avoid judging people

i think it’s pretty simple to understand that the most respectful thing to do in any social situation is to not judge people.

It’s hard though. Not gonna lie.

It’s easy to point out people’s imperfections and pick apart who they are, what they say, and how they act. Most of the time it’s subconscious, and so loud to the point where it could even come off in the way you speak to the person via body language, facial expression, or even word choice.

But when you judge someone, what you’re doing is mirroring who you really are. The speck of dust you see in their eye is the whole PLANK that’s in your own.

The root of judgement comes from pride. When you make comments about somebody’s clothes, their hair, etc, you’re trying to belittle them. You see yourself as being a more perfect or less imperfect than that particular person or group of people. Maybe you might even have the urge to share your thoughts with a friend or someone else in relation, like a coworker or neighbor.

Don’t. IT SAYS MORE ABOUT YOU THAN IT EVER WILL ABOUT THEM.

instead of thinking people are weird because they might act differently than the average person, making fun of somebody’s outfit, or talking about something rude that someone said, just try to be neutral. Be accepting of everyone and everything around you, even if that person is just nasty as hell with everybody. let them be. you don’t need to reciprocate that negative energy, and you SURELY don’t want to emit negative energy by talking shit about others.

instead of the negative aspects of people, just try to see the positives in them. Avoid questioning why people are a certain way. Would you want somebody questioning YOU and YOUR values? Even if you don’t agree with what they’re saying, let them rock. You can respectfully disagree with them, or just disregard what’s being said if they’re unwilling to actually listen and learn.

YOUR PERSPECTIVE OF OTHERS IS A REFLECTION OF YOURSELF.

so with THAT shit in mind…if something about another person irritates you, that’s just a clear demonstration of the part of your personality that needs improvement. FOR INSTANCE, if you don’t like that a person is arrogant, you might need to work on not being so arrogant all the time. OR if you think somebody’s fat and can’t believe how fat they are, maybe you should stop yourself and wonder whether you’re the one who’s insecure about being called out for just being on the chubbier side.

IT’S CRAZY. IT SEEMS LIKE IT DOESN’T WORK LIKE THAT, BUT IT ALWAYS DOES.

never forget that.

any of what was just said.
